... was born in 1853 on the island of Jersey, and came to be known as 'the Jersey Lily'. It's not strictly true to say that she was the mistress of Edward VII, but she was known for her relationships with several members of the royal family and aristocracy. These included the Prince of Wales (later Edward VII), the Earl of Shrewsbury, and Prince Louis of Battenberg (father of Louis Mountbatten, Earl Mountbatten of Burma).
